Professionals trained in these disciplines are crucial to today’s comprehensive forensic investigations. Completing this certification will qualify to work as forensic scientists, DNA analysts, chemists, death investigators and crime scene responders at the local, state and federal levels

Program Objectives

  • To study the effectiveness of physical evidence collection, preservation & examination.
  • To examine critically, for each type of physical evidence, the various scientific laboratory tests used to determine the individual characteristics.
  • To consider how each type of physical evidence can be presented in court in accord with its probative value.
  • To study the chemical & biochemical techniques employed by forensic scientists to assist the judicial system to assist the judicial system to help solve crimes, or to help prove that a law has been broken.
  • To set Forensic Science in an overall legal & professional context, introduce the structure & integrated functions of the legal process.
  • To illustrate different legal systems, the documents prepared for them & highlight court procedures, competency & ethics.
  • To develop an awareness of the various forms of the physical evidence & how each type is located & identified on a trauma victim & at a crime scene.

    Job Prospects & Career Options

In Forensic Science Studies, you will gain first-hand experience investigating simulated crime scenes and collecting evidence. You will learn about the biological, chemical and physical aspects of forensic science – for example, analyzing and examining DNA, trace chemical evidence and firearm markings. Proper scientific methodology will be emphasized as you learn the latest investigative techniques to collect manage and examine evidence on site and in the lab. The students can find employment with law enforcement agencies, police, and legal system and in the investigative services of the government and also private agencies, work as teachers in institutes that conduct courses in this subject.
